Enter my N-scale model world here
I decided to build a model railway in N-scale (1:160) many years ago. Some years ago, I built one, then I found some flaws in it, now I am building another one.
The key difference between N-scale and H0 (1:87) is (don't mention the size difference) that everything has to be very precise in N-scale. You can't build on the floor or on a table - you have to fix everything so it doesn't move and so that the trains don't derail.
The first model railway didn't have a stable enough base, I found that expanding was futile, as it was not solid enough. I decided that my new layout should be more than solid enough, and that it had to be a permanent installation, not to be removed at any time. And it should protect the model railroad against curious cats.
Pictures of my old layout - Discarded because of poor construction and design flaws.
